Greetings!

It’s my pleasure to welcome you to the Philippine Nurses Association of Miami and Southeast Florida (PNAMSEF). PNAMSEF, a 501c3 organization is one of the 55 chapters of the Philippine Nurses Association of America throughout the nation. Our mission is to promote a positive image and foster the welfare of the members, promote professional excellence through relationship-based values, evidence-based practice, education and research, and contribute significant quality outcomes to healthcare and to society. World Health Organization (WHO) has designated 2020 as the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife. With this in mind, PNAMSEF has planned numerous activities for our members and the community. However, the pandemic virus has changed all of these plans to a different focus- the safety of the members and front liners in the community.

In spite of the hardship and challenges, PNAMSEF continuously finds ways to reach our members and the community through virtual educational webinar and membership recruitment drive. In the midst of this unprecedented time, in July 2020, Miami was categorized as the new epicenter of COVID -19 in the US. In collaboration with PNAA, PNAMSEF distributed face shields to Nursing Home, Nursing Rehab, and hospitals throughout Miami-Dade County who were in dire need of face shields. The planned activities that were put on hold are the bowling tournament, Chipotle fundraising, community health teaching, consular outreach, and FCNA outreach. With the spark of creativity and team spirit among our dedicated leaders, we hope to slowly revisit these activities under strict guidelines.

This upcoming December is the PNAMSEF 5th Biennial Induction of the new President with newly-elected officers. I proudly welcome the 2020-2022 members of the Executive Board.

Sincerely,

Sinfrosa A. Talisayon BSN , RN
PNAMSEF President
2018-2020
