PNAMSEF First Educational Symposium

On September 12, 2019, PNAMSEF held its first Educational Symposium in Doral, Florida. The theme of the symposium was Promoting a Culture of Excellence, Advocacy, Service, and Engagement in the Community. Led by Dr. Penny Pattalitan, PNAMSEF Chair of Educational Committee, the topics were focused on Leadership: Emotional Intelligence by Dr. Pattalitan; Current research in Fall Prevention by Dr. Perlita Capili Cerilo and Sadie Dyce, MSN, RN; Current Treatment for AMLs, by Dr. Wesam Ahmed of Cleveland Clinic Oncology Department; and Nursing Shortage and Turnover Rates in South Florida by Dr. Jhoanna MAdden of Chamberlain University. Right after the symposium, awards were presented by President Sehnie Talisayon to Alison Talana, Cinthya Silva, and Hulda Guerrier, recipients of nursing scholarship awards from each of the three colleges of nursing: Chamberlain University, West Coast University, and Cambridge College of Nursing.

PNAMSEF Leadership and Volunteer Activities Highlights Perlita Capili Cerilo, PhD, MSHA, RN- PNAMSEF PRO

Perlita Cerilo, PNAMSEF PRO presented a Literature Review on Barriers and Facilitators in Hospital Throughput. The event’s theme was “Developing the Leader Within: Becoming the leader you would follow”. The consortium was attended by over 300 nursing leaders from South Florida hospitals. Together with a colleague Sadie Dyce from Cleveland Clinic Florida, Perlita presented a Literature Review on Barriers and Facilitators in Hospital Throughput. Currently, Perlita is pursuing a cross-sectional study on patient throughput in her workplace.
